SSC Exam Pattern vs SSC Syllabus

The SSC syllabus tells you what topics you need to study, while the exam pattern explains how those topics are tested.

For example:

  • Syllabus: Percentage, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry
  • Exam Pattern: Number of questions, marks, duration and negative marking

Candidates should therefore study both the syllabus and exam pattern before starting preparation.

You can also check the SSC Syllabus page for subject-wise topics.

Negative Marking in SSC Exams

Negative marking is not identical across every SSC examination or stage. The applicable deduction should always be checked in the latest notification for the examination you are taking.

Do not assume that the negative-marking rule for one SSC examination applies to another.

How to Prepare According to the SSC Exam Pattern

A good preparation strategy starts with understanding the structure of your target examination.

  1. Select the SSC examination you want to prepare for.
  2. Check its latest exam pattern.
